The STRIDES Employment Liaison officer is funded through DAF Jopbcentreplus and has the responsibility of engaging with people who are ready to progress from within STRIDES and to develop employability skills in others who are not quite ready.
This post is also responsible for engaging with local employers to develop STRIDES beneficiaries to fill their vacancies. Courses can be tailored to suit employer needs.
This team also includes the STRIDES engagement outreach worker, between these two posts they address all employment related activities within STRIDES including:
- Engagement
- Registration
- Individual Learning Plans
- Employability Skills
- Interview techniques
- Application form filling advice
STRIDES target group is people living in Neath & Port Talbot,
- Aged 16 – 65 years.
- Unemployed or low skilled.
- Beneficiaries of support agencies (e.g. Shaw Trust, Social Services, etc.)
- Housing Associations / Social housing tenants.
- People with mental Health problems
- People on rehabilitation from injury / illness.
- Have or have had drugs or drink related problems.
- Ex offenders.
- Lone parents
- May be made redundant
- Homeless or may become homeless
- Want to gain new skills to move into employment / further education
- Chaotic Lifestyles
- This group is not inclusive, people who are not in employment for any reason can engage with STRIDES.
- Incapacity Benefit Claimants
- Other Inactive Benefit Claimants
- JSA claimants through partner referral
